.. . У веку ад 10-цi гадоў выяжджалi на сэзонныя работы, на цэгляныя фабрыкi ў Рыгу, у Мiтаву (Елгава), або ў ваколiцы Пецярбурга (Колпiно на Iжоры), а пад восень вярталiся да хаты i заробленыя грошы аддавалi бацьком. I я таксама езьдзiў на работы ў цагельнi.
.. . Увага! Кажнай вясной прыяжджаў у гмiну падрадчык, набiраў хлапцоў i мужчын i вёз у сваю фабрыку, дзе быў загадчыкам i пiльнаваў работнiкаў: называўся ён прыказчыкам.
